Squirtle teapot -WIP- greenware stage by Spaggled Squirtle teapot -WIP- greenware stage by Spaggled
my latest large project from my ceramics class. i need to take the time to get photos of my finished hyena sculpt once i get it back from the show. xwx;;

the thing in his mouth is one of my sculpting tools that im using to keep the tongue in place until its leather hard and can fully support itself.

Quite inventive. It looks like it would have been fun to make. Anyone see where I left my wailmer watering can? ( alluding to the various tools used in the games to water berry trees)

Your Squirtle looks a lot better than mine does though X3
The people in your class must hate you for your skills

i don't mean to be critical but.... won't it be a bit too heavy to use?

its not as heavy as it looks surprisingly. everything's completely hollow so there's no unnecessary weight. but like the person who replied before me. its mainly for decorative purposes as im fairly certain it wont ever be safe to use on a stove. xwx;;

It seems more like a decorative piece than a practical one, honestly.

this reminds me of the watering can you had to get in the old games to water the tree that was blocking the road that turned out to be a Sudowoodo XD

I'm pretty blown away that something like this even exists. Are you expecting it to be functional once completed, or merely decorative? Either way very cool.

its designed to be functional to a point. it'll hold over 10 cups of water and the spout(his tongue)  and handle work perfectly. I just dont know how well a ceramics teapot would hold up on a stove to warm up is all. xwx;;

That level of functionality is pretty much what I had in mind when I asked. I don't know of anyone who makes ceramic teapots that are actually stove ready. What about the practicality of using it though? I can't judge the size based on the photos, but its shape looks like it would be very difficult to balance while lifting it by the handle to pour a drink.

its definitely one you have to support with your second hand just under the chin but its not as awkward to pour as i initially anticipated it was gonna be.  if i find the time once its been glazed and fired ill see if i can get video of in in use to show how well it pours and for size comparison and what not. vwv

wwoooowoowow theres a few ceramics classes at my school and out of all the teapots ive seen made, none of them looked as good as this (sadly i only got to make one ceramics 2 project, and instead of the teapot i chose the lamp. i now have a nightlight in the shape of a zapdos)
